As a three time recipient of a colonoscopy, I can assure you the prep thr day before is as much fun as he says it is. It's gotten a little better over the years, but you basically spend 16 to 18 hours sitting on the toilet. It's one really quick way to lose a few pounds. The drugs a re a fairly nice bonus, as, when I was done with the first scoping, I remember my wife meeting me in the recovery room and walking out of the room, but absolutely nothing afterwards until I woke up in bed a few hours later. Then, it's off to the nearest diner to order up a big dinner, usually a late breakfast with pan cakes,bacon and eggs. If I remember correctly I have 1 or 2 more years till the next one. Oh joy.
